Shortly after J. D. Phillips published his booklet “The Cup of the Lord” in defense of the use of a single drinking vessel in the observance of the Lord’s supper, Brother G. C. Brewer wrote a review of Phillip’s booklet in the Gospel Advocate paper defending his innovation of multiple cups being used in communion.  Shortly after Brother Brewer’s review was printed, Brother Phillips responded in the pages of the Old Paths Advocate.  Brother Phillip’s response was stretched out over a year’s time and because of other pressing issues was never completed. When it was decided to reprint Brother Phillip’s tract and the written discussion between he and Brother Brewer, it was decided to ask Brother Ronny Wade to write a reply to Brother Brewer’s final objection so that the discussion could be complete and all objects could be considered.

The material contained herein is of great historical importance and spiritual significance.  The reader is urged to pay close attention to all material presented by both sides.
